Love music and art? 'One Love' at The Social is a monthly installation curated by the art world's very own rock star and our friend, Kilford - The Music Painter.

The first club to offer a residency to a painter, Kilford has painted and sketched bands such as St Etienne, Magic Numbers, The Charlatans and John & Jehn at The Social and will be curating this monthly installation, inviting great musicians every month.

Kilford paints the colours he sees when he hears music and has painted live with musicians such as Black Eyed Peas, Damon Albarn, Brian Eno, Cerys Matthews and many others. He says ‘One Love' is all about fusing Art and Music together and getting something extra special, One Love is the only place where great musicians come to have their live music painted "

Expect an eclectic fusion of great tunes and beautiful tones on this unique monthly installation curated by the painter himself.  Doors 7pm-12am £5 all proceeds to The Sam Buxton Sunflower Healing Trust. http://www.cancertherapies.org.uk/

Professor Karol Sikora is an oncologist .  Here he explains why he favours an integrated approach to cancer care.

The rise in the popularity of complementary and alternative medicines for cancer reflects in part the inability of orthodox medicine to deliver what people want - hope in a caring environment with the increased ability to cope with the stress caused by the disease.  The internet now lists over three hundred million cancer sites.  Agency relationships in which healthcare professionals act as the patient's agent making decisions on complex technical matters such as the benefits of different types of adjuvant chemotherapy have increasingly put the patient more fully in the driving seat.  Different people respond differently to these approaches and find the information bewildering and are not able to assimilate the options.  Others get confused and frightened and are pushed further into denial.  Good Integrated medicine is rapidly becoming an essential tool in cancer care as the technical options increase and the patient plays a greater role in their choice of care.

"It's a great privilege for me to be a Patron of The Sam Buxton Sunflower Healing Trust.  Healing is probably one of the most ancient medical arts and if it can provide comfort and solace to those who are suffering, I am only too happy to be of some assistance in that process."

Kings Cross Underground Collection Day

A big thank you to all those of you who came along on the day to support us with your time, love and energy.

What we appreciated most was the way that everyone worked with a smile on their faces and that clearly shone through as we raised a fantastic sum of £1,175 - 95p

We know Sam would be pleased with the way we all worked together and the amount we raised as it will go a long way to help support those on their cancer journey.

After the event we were delighted to receive a donation from London & Birmingham Railway for £300.

Thank you to all concerned.

Sunflower Jam 3!
A few words from event organiser Jacky Paice...

"I would just like to say what an amazing night it was I have had so many wonderful emails from our fantastic guests. From start to finish the whole organization has been flawless and this couldn't have happened without the help of Emmy Paice, Amy Lord, Nick Fyffe, Sarah Cotton, Andrew Thornton, Naomi Sadka, James Paice, Calli Paice and Binni Collings among many others. I would also just like to personally thank Paul Clerehugh who again managed to produce incredible food and service, Louis Ball who's artistic talents blew us away with his lighting this year, Gurt Sanner for the wonderful front of house sound and I also feel so lucky to have had such an incredible line up of musicians again this year, it just keeps getting better and better."

I'd also like to express my gratitude to Ian Gillian for giving a stellar performance on the night, despite feeling unwell.
