Objects

The objects of the charity are to promote public health by the provision or assistance in the provision of Spiritual Healing and Reiki as complementary therapies in particular but not exclusively within the National Health Service

The charity has been created as a living tribute to my son Sam who passed away on 5 August 1998 aged 10 from cancer.

Sam's life was 3 years longer than his initial diagnosis suggested, and we would like others to have the opportunity to share those extra magic moments with their loved ones as we did with Sam.

During the years that Sam was ill the most supportive therapy we as a family used was healing. The therapy of healing initially supported Sam through chemotherapy, allowing him to be active ,vibrant and cheerful despite the gruelling regimes he went through to rid his body of leukaemia. After a bone marrow transplant and subsequent relapse Sam continiued to live a happy and vibrant life .

Our aim now is to make funds available to NHS trusts and cancer centres to provide therapists to work alongside conventional medicine . We believe that this is the face of integrated medicine of the future for cancer patients.

Angie Buxton-King

Since 1988 I have worked as a healer. In 1995 my youngest son Sam was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away in 1998 aged 10. I have since felt very motivated to spread the knowledge that healing is a very beneficial tool when used alongside conventional medicine.

Over the past 11 years I have been employed by University College Hospital (UCH) as a healer working with cancer patients . For the past 7 years I have held the post of manager of the complementary therapy team within cancer services at UCH.

Over the years I have spoken at many medical and holistic conferences at home and abroad and in August 2004 my first book the 'The NHS Healer' was published (available via the Guild of Professional Healers shop ).

It has been a privilege to help so many people within the NHS setting and now with Sam’s Charity established we can move towards our next goal of providing funds to cancer centers to employ the services of healers to work alongside allopathic medicine.

Prince's Foundation of Integrated Health (FIH )

I am delighted to have been appointed the Foundation for Integrated Health Lead for Complementary Therapy and look forward to continuing the work to progress the integration of complementary therapy into health care, allowing it to take its rightful place alongside conventional medicine.

Graham King

I qualified as a Reiki Master/Teacher in 1997 and in June 2003 joined the complementary therapy team at UCLH working within cancer services.

Initially my work was with adult patients in haematology, I now work as part of a multi disciplinary team in paediatric oncology with children from 0-12 as well as teenagers from 13-19 with cancer.

It has been a great pleasure and challenge to move from the private sector into my role as a healer within the NHS seeing the benefits it has made to many lives, old and young. It is wonderful to be able to offer our patients the benefits of a holistic model of care. One of my goals now is to spread the word on how complementary medicine can benefit those within the hospital setting . My work was featured on the BBC 1's programme Inside Out London in October 2005 and my goal is to reach as many people as possible with the knowledge that there are many ways to help ourselves in our difficult times.
